Point of Views

1st Person Unreliable:
“Prity must start to learn how to cook otherwise she won’t get a good husband. That girl has been spoiled by those Western pictures,” I repeated to my husband for the tenth time.
I don’t understand why she is careless; a young girl should never be that way Look at Prity’s older sister, Geeta, happily married. Prity is almost twenty now and most girls her age are already seeking for husbands. That foolish girl must know that the western lifestyle is for the uncultured hooligans, not for people like us. This is how the world is, whether she likes it or not. We are given this life by god and we must dutifully carry out her wishes through this life.
I resent those western movies for influencing my daughter into being a shameless young woman. Every time Prity watches those movies, I just want to break that box of TV. How can those girls on TV, wear such little clothes, I mean did the tailor run out of fabric?

2nd person:
Have you ever encountered those people who ask for money in the subway or in the train? Have you seen the mother with toddlers sitting on the floor of a subway station? Or a dad with an accordion while the mother with baby goes around collecting money? Or the little African American kids selling candies? Don’t you feel like it’s all part of a big scam by a bigger organization, maybe like the gangs? At first you feel sorry for those people and you give them money, but then you see the same stories but now with different people. You feel like they are lying but you give in at the sight of little kids. You feel compelled to give them a dollar. But now a day, you’ll see those kinds of stories at least three times a day. Sometimes you feel like yelling at those people to get a job even if it’s minimum wage. You want to just scream at them for exploiting the kids in a very shameful and embarrassing way. You feel very sorry for the kids because they have to go through this embarrassing childhood in which they beg for money in the subway because their parents are too damn last to get a job.
