Flashback Story
“I thought we were friends,” Shelby cried.
“I am sorry, I couldn’t let you do this,” John argued.
As the park
officers took Shelby away to the downtown police station, she couldn’t get her
eyes off John. John knew that Shelby’s parents are going to freak out and that
she will be too embarrassed to come back to work. But he also knew that he
couldn’t let his good friend be manipulated by some upcoming pothead Indi
rocker.
John had
warned her about the consequences of her action beforehand. He had told her not
to listen to her punk rocker friends. He had told her that a dare from her
friends to steal from Cinderella’s closet is a stupid idea. He had also warned
her that it was his turn to guard Cinderella’s castle that night.
If only
Shelby had listened to John, her life wouldn’t be in a big jeopardy tonight.
All Shelby can think was how her parents are going to react and whether UCLA
might decide to drop her. Even though she knew that John was just trying to do
what’s best for her, she still couldn’t shake off her anger at John. She can’t
help but blame John for putting her whole life on a cliff.
